Tirzepatide a GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide 1) receptor agonist, mimics the body’s natural GLP-1, a peptide that the body naturally makes in response to food intake. As the body’s natural appetite suppressant, it lowers blood sugar. Human GLP-1 only lasts a few minutes, but Tirzepatide lasts a whole week, controlling appetite. In addition, it contains GIP (Gastric inhibitory peptide), another peptide with similar properties and found to add additional weight loss benefit. As a side effect, weight loss results because of the properties to inhibit food intake, reduce gastric emptying and change the way food we think about food as a reward. Finally, long-term weight management can be achieved with once weekly Tirzepatide injections!
